Questions

Frequently Asked

Because my art is primarily portraiture, I need a certain size to capture the details that I feel are important. I like to work right down to eyelashes and whites of the eyes, and smaller sizes don't allow for that. So 11″ is the smallest custom order I accept. And also the size given above is the paper size, NOT the size of the subject on the paper — there is white space around the subject, so my actual working space is even smaller.

It's unlikely. Although I used to attempt it, overall it became too difficult to execute well. A good portrait starts with a good reference image, and getting the reference right for one subject is hard. For two subjects, it's even harder. I've found that results are more consistent with individual one-subject works.

For U.S. customers, shipping is always free. If you are an international customer, shipping is calculated on an individual basis — please contact the studio before ordering. Untracked shipping to most European countries is approximately $35 and takes 2–3 weeks. Tracked international shipping (which arrives sooner) is typically $55–70. All art comes carefully packaged, shipped flat, and ready to frame.

I've shipped art to over 25 countries — including Australia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates — so it's very likely I can ship to where you are.

That depends on my schedule and the time of year. Holidays like Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Christmas are especially busy. Generally it's 2–4 weeks. If you have a time-sensitive or rush order, please inquire prior to ordering.

Yes. I use a photo (or photos) as reference for your piece. When selecting a photo, please provide the highest quality version you have — uncropped and unresized if possible. It's always helpful to have several options so I can get a sense of your child's personality. Try to select photos with a good balance of highlights and shadows. Heavily filtered, dark, blurry, or distant photos generally won't work — I need to see facial details clearly. When in doubt, send multiple images and we'll settle on one together. I prefer to open a dedicated Google Drive folder for you to upload images; after ordering I'll send you a link.

I consider my work more of a mixed media illustration. Although I use primarily watercolor, I rarely use only watercolor — I prefer a mix of watercolor, ink, pencil, and sometimes acrylic. All original work is on thick, textured, 310gsm acid-free gallery-quality paper and sealed upon completion with a clear matte acrylic spray.
